FILM

From backbreaking fields to the vast unknown, A Million Miles Away tells the true story of José Hernández, a migrant farmworker who defied all odds to become an astronaut. Witness his relentless pursuit of a childhood dream, the grueling training, and the awe-inspiring moment he touches the stars, a journey that proves anything is possible.

SPECIAL TALK BACK

José Hernández overcame his beginnings as a migrant farmworker to become a highly accomplished engineer. He spent over 15 years at Lawrence Livermore National Lab where he co-developed the first full-field digital mammography system and played a key role in international nuclear security efforts.

In 2004, José’s life took another incredible turn when he was selected by NASA. He served as a flight engineer on the Space Shuttle Discovery and later worked in NASA leadership. Today, he continues to inspire as a consultant and author.
