The historic Rio Grande Theatre will be making an offer you can’t refuse.
Saturday, August 12, the theatre will be showing The Godfather, the 1972 Academy Award winner for Best Picture and Actor, and starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall and James Caan.
The show starts at 7 pm; however, Lorenzo’s restaurant will be onsite beginning at 5:30 pm serving pizza, pasta and, of course, cannolis.
Additionally, the theatre is now serving snacks, refreshment, beer, wine and spirits that can be taken into the theatre.
The Godfather is the second classic film shown this year, and leading up to the kickoff of the 2017-18 Classic Film Series which begins in September with Meet Me in St. Louis starring Judy Garland.
Tickets to the show are $8 per person, or you can purchase the Classic Film Series pass for $79 which includes admission to all 12 films: Meet Me in St. Louis, Cool Hand Luke, Gone With the Wind, A Christmas Story, Casablanca, Rebel Without a Cause, One Flew Over the Cockoo’s Nest, The Searchers, North by Northwest, The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
The Godfather is not part of the Classic Film Series.
Because of the length of the movie, there will be a 20-minute intermission at the half-way point in the film.
